I have become involved in the breast cancer fight for two reasons. I want to do whatever I can to ensure that no woman, especially my wife or daughters, ever has to face this insidious disease. Also, I want to raise awareness that men can develop, and often die, from this disease. If a couple of blisters and some long days can make these things happen, count me in.

MR. MARCH: Don, 45, has been involved in breast cancer awareness and the 3-Day since 2005, honoring and participating with a dear friend and former supervisor whose incredible attitude through her ordeal with breast and ovarian cancers provided true inspiration to everyone around her. As an Ambassador with Men Against Breast Cancer, he has dedicated many hours to raising awareness as well as educating and empowering men to be effective caregivers when a female loved one is diagnosed. In his spare time, Don enjoys spending time with his two sons, age 15 and 11, who have developed a sincere understanding of the cause and shares his passion for raising awareness and helping others. He helps coach his son’s baseball team, provides guidance to his teenage son and shares his love for the San Jose Sharks and the 2010 World Champion San Francisco Giants with the boys.
I vow to walk until we don’t have to walk any more.

MR. APRIL: Jeff, 47, lives in Scottsdale, AZ and is a Manager of a financial services wealth management team. He deeply loves his family, friends and work, and adores sports, sports and more sports. He enjoys watching his son Chris excel in baseball . Jeff spends his free time outdoors enjoying the beautiful sunshine of Arizona and watching the surf meet the turf in San Diego. He lost his mother when he was two to cancer and has been involved with its cure for most of his life.
In March of 2002, someone very special to me came down with this very preventable and curable disease. It was cured; it came back. She survives and fights. In 2004 we took up the cause and became part of Team WISH – “A Million Dollar Team” from Arizona. Here we ran (actually walked) into more survivors, more fighters. To the Julies and Heathers of the world, keep fighting, keep surviving. To Linda Kacmarsky, my cousin and our fearless team leader who took the cause up to the Big Guy in December 2010, we miss you, we love you, and rest assured, we will always be “Walking In Spirit and Hope”. Linda, I hope you are getting as much a kick out of this as I am.

I walk for the woman that I never had the chance to know. In 2003, my future mother-in-law Ann Beaver lost her fight with breast cancer. I’d met her only once always heard how caring and great to be around she was. I hate that so many people are unable to meet this amazing woman with such a big heart. I walk so others like her will be there for the world to get to know.

MR. JUNE: Ed, 40, is a Building/Plumbing Inspector for a small town in Ohio. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. In the past year he has worked to achieve a healthy lifestyle and enjoys being physically fit. Overall, his goal is to enjoy life and all the blessings that come with it.
I started walking in the 3-Day events in 2010 to support my wife Tara who was diagnosed with Stage III invasive breast cancer June 4, 2009. Soon after walking my first event in Cleveland with my wife, I quickly figured out that I was no longer walking just for her alone. We were now part of something bigger –the 3-Day family –that we now lovingly support. You see, life changes when you find the right perspective, and my wife and I are the truly blessed and living more fully—every day. Cleveland Rocks…

I walk in memory of my wife Brenda, who I lost in ’05. I walk to commemorate the courage and determination she demonstrated in battling this horrible disease. I also walk in hope for my daughter, so she will not have to be in danger. And I walk for all women who have to fight the fight. I will continue to walk until we find a cure or I can’t walk anymore and then I will Crew!

MR. AUGUST: Russ, 58, is from Michigan. He retired once from the US Navy, with 20 years’ service as a Weapons Technician. Today, he works in the medical equipment industry as a Field Service Representative installing, repairing and removing sterilizers, equipment washers and/or equipment / lights. In his "spare time" he likes to run marathons and has a goal of running a marathon in all 50 states. When he isn't running he loves to ride his motorcycles, sharing his passion for riding safely with others through his local motorcycle group’s Road Captain program.
As a runner and as a motorcycle rider I believe in "being seen" by wearing proper equipment, both protective and reflective. I walk/crew to help spread the message that women, and men, should also "be seen" by their doctors annually—and by themselves at regular monthly intervals—to help wipe out breast cancer in our lifetime. No excuses accepted, just check!

In addition to his family, his passions include learning, reading, writing, music, coffee and baseball. He also avidly supports two causes: a world without breast cancer and expanding the role of technology in education. If you can’t find him training in a gym or on the county roads of Stillwater, look for him enjoying a good book and a cup of coffee at one of the local coffee shops!
I walk because my wife lost her mother to breast cancer more than 20 years ago. Had she been diagnosed today, chances are she would still be with us. Thanks, in part, to organizations, like Susan G. Komen for the Cure™ supporting breast cancer research and awareness, this ugly disease is no longer an automatic death sentence. For all of the men, women, and families directly affected by breast cancer, I walk for you!

MR. OCTOBER: Dylan, 34, is an IT Professional born and raised in Central Florida. He loves to travel, enjoys water sports, including SCUBA diving, hanging with his wolf pack, snowboarding when the opportunity presents itself and most importantly, spending time with his wife Gayle, 10 year-old son Jarrett and two dogs, Sesi and Kilo.
I've lost too many loved ones to cancer and in 2008 my wife lost her best friend Kim to breast cancer. Gayle formed a team in Kim's name (Kimpossible) to walk in Tampa in 2008; Jarrett and I cheered the team on. That weekend sucked me into the 3-Day community and I won't stop until we have a resolution to this horrible disease. My goal is to increase male participation in the 3-day, as well as, general breast cancer awareness and self-examination.

MR. DECEMBER: Jim, 38, is an Electrical Engineer for a semiconductor company. Since his sister lost her battle with breast cancer, he has helped to take care of her two daughters (one of whom lived with Jim in her college summers). In his spare time, Jim enjoys spending time with his wife, family and friends, almost completing home projects, hunting, fishing, boating, baseball games, reading, philanthropy, and working on nerdy projects in his man-cave, cold beer in hand. Jim is from Minnesota.
I started the team "Dudes for Boobs" in 2005. We walked in support of my sister who, in 2006, lost her 10 year battle to breast cancer. Today, we walk in her memory, in support of all survivors, and for every woman we know and love so that they, one day, will not have to face this disease.
